Watcha!

I'm in Chile with two friends, Dave and Romi, only for three weeks, but I'm here and having a loverly (sic) time :) Here's the first instalment of my holiday news...

I've arrived! 28 hours travelling. It's 35 degrees C and sunny - jealous yet? :) Had three days in Santiago - a massive city in the shadow of the Andes, or so they tell me. You can't see the mountains for the smog. Still, it's a lively and interesting city, as far as cities go. Saw the changing of the guard this morning outside Pinochet's house (or his old one). Spotted that they've downgraded his charges to him being complicit in the crimes rather than orchestrating them! Yeah right.

Anyway, Romi and Dave are just recovering from explosive food poisoning and I have sore feet from lots of walking. Tonight we're going for dinner with a Chilean that Dave and Romi have met, who owns a vineyard and who's called Igor! Tomorrow we get on a bus for a 7 hour drive north to La Serena, out of the city - hooray!

You may or may not have seen that the south of Chile has been hit by torrential rain. That's not us - it's hot and dry here.
