Ah ha, the wonders of email and satellites. I hate sending postcards, all that writing and licking stamps and posting - this seems an ideal approach: write once, use many times!
After loading up with provisions in Tenerife on 18th Nov (last Thursday), we are now into day 6. We've sailed 600 miles and have about 1,990 to go - a mere snip. To keep ourselves amused, we have cake - of course we do! - to mark milestones along the way (if you can have such a thing in the sea!). We passed 300 miles a few days ago and savoured our first 12.5% slice and are going for our 25% piece today: some time next week it'll be smoked salmon, steak and champagne for our 50%. From there, it's all downhill to Antigua. Hoorah!
Dolphins have come to play and flying fish are, well, flying, off to starboard. All that we're waiting for now is a whale or two, but on the proviso they dont get confused - we have already contemplated the insurance claim: "boat sunk following unsuccessful shafting by whale" and wondered if that would go down as one of the more unusual claims.
The weather is wonderful 10 - 15 knots of wind up the chuff and sunny (except at night, when its moony). Tea shirts off during the day and on at night. Getting hotter all the time (cue for a song I think). No sea sick yet: all in good spirits - we're 'aving a laugh! Heading south west to catch a bit more puff on the 26th. Our position now (if you're interested) is 24 degrees 31 North, 27 degrees 22 West. Currently expect to be in Antigua in the first week in December.
