Sailing the Atlantic, 1999
In November/December 1999, I was invited to form part of a four-man crew on a 56' yacht (a Van Dam Sloop), sailing across the Atlantic from Tenerife to Antigua. When inviting me to join him, the skipper said "I couldn't think of anyone else mad enough and stupid enough to want to join me." I said "Thank you, I'll take that as a compliment. Yes please!" He then said "OK, but on one condition - YOU tell your Mother!"
Here is my story in the form of emails back home (the boat had a Minisat satellite phone).
